Frozen Dog Lick Cup with Banana and Yogurt

Frozen Dog Lick Cup with Banana and Yogurt

Imagine your pup's face lighting up on a sweltering afternoon when you hand them something cold, creamy, and entirely made just for them. That's the magic of a frozen dog lick cup—a simple, wholesome treat that feels indulgent but is really just clever enrichment wrapped in a cozy moment together.

I started making these on days when my dog needed a little something to focus on, especially after a spirited walk or when the heat made everyone sluggish. It's the kind of thing that makes you feel like a thoughtful pet parent, even though it takes just minutes to put together.

The Simple Recipe

What you'll need: 1/2 cup plain unsweetened yogurt, 1/2 banana, and 1 tablespoon of crushed dog treats or kibble. That's it.

How to make it: Mash your banana in a bowl until it's soft and creamy. Stir in the yogurt until everything is well combined. Spoon the mixture into a silicone cup, a small freezer-safe bowl, or a lick mat—whatever you have on hand. Sprinkle those crushed treats right on top for a little extra texture and flavor. Then pop it in the freezer for 3 to 4 hours, or until it's completely solid.

Keeping It Fresh

Once frozen, these treats will keep in your freezer for up to a month. Just cover them with a silicone lid, pop them in a freezer-safe container, or slip them into a freezer bag to keep that icy smell from settling in.

A Few Gentle Reminders

Always use plain, unsweetened yogurt—flavored varieties and anything with artificial sweeteners have no place in your pup's treats. If your dog is the type to gulp rather than savor, keep an eye on them to make sure they're not trying to swallow large frozen chunks.

When to Reach for These

Hot afternoons are the obvious choice, but these little frozen cups shine in so many moments: as crate enrichment to make quiet time feel special, as a distraction during grooming, or as a gentle cooldown after playtime. They're the kind of treat that turns an ordinary day into something a little more thoughtful.
